Nestled in the evocative agricultural landscape of Menfi’s countryside, this refined renovation stands as a contemporary model of how to renovate a country house sustainably—enhancing its rural architectural identity while leveraging the benefits of Italy’s Superbonus 110.

Restoring Rural Heritage: Elegance and Authenticity

The project focused on a traditional rural building, carefully restored to preserve the constructive memory of the place. Through a modern reinterpretation of original forms and materials, the renovation breathed new life and functionality into the structure while maintaining a strong connection with the surrounding landscape.

A Skylight as the Central Feature

The architectural heart of the project is the glazed skylight, strategically placed above the living area. This feature not only enhances the natural light within the interior but also establishes a direct visual connection with the sky—transforming the perception of the domestic space and reinforcing the dialogue between indoors and outdoors.

Minimal and Welcoming Interiors

The interior spaces unfold with a fluid logic, elegantly distinguishing the living and sleeping areas. The choice of natural materials—troweled concrete floors and solid wood furniture—evokes the tactile simplicity of contemporary minimalist design.

The central island kitchen, fully integrated into the living space, serves as the social core of the home, encouraging openness and conviviality.

Outdoor Spaces in Harmony with the Landscape

Outside, the house opens up to its surroundings through panoramic terraces and stairways clad in handcrafted Sicilian ceramic tiles—decorative elements that celebrate local tradition and reinforce the bond with the territory. Each view is designed to enhance visual connection and immersion in nature.

A Quiet Library Amid Greenery

Among the most captivating spaces is a cozy, light-filled library conceived as a retreat for reading and contemplation. The large window with a built-in bench frames the Menfi countryside like a living painting, offering a peaceful and introspective corner.
